In 2020, Getinge, Dentisan’s parent company, set out a plan for improving sustainability across key areas.
Outlining ambitious yet workable goals, every business within the Getinge group is onboard. We believe that actions like this are essential to safeguard the planet and its resources, and also to continue to deliver the best clinical outcomes for patients. As we step into a new year, we continue to work on these measures, and this is what it means for us.
We will be CO2 neutral by 2025
An overarching goal for Getinge is to become carbon neutral by 2025. While this is an ambitious target, we believe it’s achievable with the right steps. These include:
- Transforming corporate fleet vehicles into hybrid or electric models
- Switching to renewable energy sources
- Implementing stricter travel routines and using online meetings wherever possible
- Optimising transport routes, and using rail and sea, not air freight
Using sophisticated reporting and measurement methods, we are actively tracking how we are progressing towards each of these targets.
Reducing our transport and warehouse footprint
Transport and warehouse footprints are key areas for sustainability. Getinge has already consolidated many of its global warehouses and distribution centres.
For our part, Dentisan operates as a UK company, which means we develop, manufacture and distribute our products largely within the UK. This enables us to reduce transport, consolidate our warehousing facility and stay in full control of our supply chain.
We believe in EcoDesign and recycling
EcoDesign helps us design and make products that have a minimal environmental impact throughout their life cycle. This includes using recyclable materials and containers and takes into consideration how much energy is needed to make and use the products.
At Dentisan, we also use pH neutral ingredients in our products, such as Dentizyme Ultra – a pH neutral enzymatic detergent, which not only limits our impact on the environment but also cleans effectively, without damaging your equipment.
Looking to 2025
As we enter the second year since Getinge’s 2020 sustainability report, we know there’s still a long way to go to reach the carbon neutral goal. We also know that we have the tools and the resources to achieve it. Our commitment is that promoting sustainable practices will remain at the heart of everything we do.
Mattias Perjos, Getinge’s President & CEO confirms this promise: “Sustainability is one of Getinge’s top priorities and we have our employees onboard. Together, we will continue to build a sustainable business that generates even more value for our customers.”
Bob Newsome, MD at Dentisan adds, “As a UK manufacturer, we can actively commit to reducing transport to lower CO2 emissions. This, along with our highly effective pH neutral, medical-grade decontamination range of products, allows us to provide exceptional value for our customers, while adhering to our environmental targets.”
